Discount leather jackets and motorcycle leather

pink-stripe-jacket.jpgHave you noticed the increasing numbers of Women’s Motorcycle Clubs and Female Motorcycle Rallies across the country?   Wow, I can remember back in ‘97 when women motorcyclists weren’t even a blip on the radar screens of manufacturers and marketers.

But now, we have our own events, our own clubs, even manufacturers making products targeted just at us.  I’m not just talking’ about pink leather jackets and chaps, although I do have one and love it.

I’m talking about bonifide women’s motorcycle boots, women’s motorcycle helmets, and cycle manufacturers actually taking notice of and offering options that women want, like more comfortable seats, more attractive paint color options,  and more low-ride models in styles that women will buy.  Some of us girls have shorter legs than you guys.

It’s great to see the motorcycling world finally taking us ladies seriously, ’cause guess what guy’s?  We’re here to stay!  :-P

modern-ferrari-motorcycle.jpgOk, this bike is sooo incredible Hot!!  I want it!  As soon as someone actually builds it… :-(

It was conceptualized by Israeli designer Amir Glinik using existing Ferrari parts and technology.

Designed around the theoretical modification of the Ferrari Enzo V-12 engine chopped down to just 4-cylinders, modified to drive just one wheel and stuffed into a motorcycle frame.  The design is completed by a super-sleek chassis, F-16 style controls for steering, and tank-top touch-screen to tell you what’s going on under all that fiberglass.

Hey! A girl can dream right?   Just think how sweet it would look with the pink leather jacket and pink chaps I already have  :-)

al2121.jpgI read the article that EzRider wrote a little while back and thought: Wow what a great idea !   To show support for Breast Cancer Awareness with Pink Leather.  I am going to suggest this to the other ladies in our Christian biker club at our next meeting.   Maybe we could even get a local tailor to embroider the “Breast Cancer Ribbon” on our jackets and chaps.

classic-pink-leather-jacket

Pink is cute and feminine, while leather goods are said to look tough. But if you combine the two, and come up with a pink leather jacket, you can come up with a really hot look.  These jackets can definitely amp-up any girl’s street credibility.

As with any leather product, leather jackets require regular cleaning and care.  And since this type of outerwear is dyed pink, you may have to take extra precautions to prevent the color from fading and unevenness.  But this extra care is worth it because it is sure to catch attention anywhere you go.

pink motorcycle chaps

If you are a dedicated motorcycle enthusiast, you know it can be a tricky thing getting your wife or girlfriend interested in the lifestyle. If she is expressing some irritation at all the time you spend riding with friends or fixing your hog, it might be time for a grand gesture.

And that grand gesture can be ordering her a pair of pink motorcycle chaps. If she’s up to the challenge, pink chaps tell her that you want to include her in your hobby.

But beware—don’t order her a pair unless you know she’s actually interested in sharing this lifestyle with you. If she has no interest in the sport, the gift will be essentially meaningless.

Also, if the woman in your life is interested in charity, pink chaps are a fantastic way to express her support of breast cancer research. They would even make the ideal outfit for a female motorcyclist group entering “Relay for Life.”

al2105.jpgSince the beginning of the 20th century when the first motorized bike hit the road, it has been mostly a male dominated sport. However,  women are making up a larger segment of todays motorcycle riders. 43 million women and more every day.  The most recent research by Motorcycle Industry Council states a 34% increase in the number of women riders between 1998 and 2003.  According to Motorcycle Safety Foundation,  across the U.S. nearly 30% of students in learn-to-ride Basic Rider Courses are women.

Today, manufacturers of motorcycles, as well as motorcycle protective gear, are actively wooing a rising number of females to purchase their products to trick out our bikes and our bodies.   This article briefly focuses on 3  remarkable women who paved the way for todays women riders.

In 1916, Sisters Adeline and Augusta Van Buren made a record-breaking coast to coast ride on Indian motorcycles.  They were the first women to make the transcontinental ride solo on 2 motorcycles.  They hoped to convince the military that women were able to serve as dispatch riders.   Even though they did not succeed they did lead the way for others and shattered conventional thinking about women in the early 20th century.

Another female motorcycling pioneer was, Bessie Stringfield, a brave African-American, broke gender barriers in the 1930’s and 1940’s by serving as a U.S. dispatch rider and competing in and completing 8 solo transcontinental tours.  Some of those tours through the racially charged deep South.

Lets honor these brave and fearless women every time we ride off into the sunset.

Keep the wind at your knees.
